Paul and Jin Yang want to use the word of God to liberate the faith community. Their mission begins in Vancouver, Canada.

As new church planters, Paul and Jin Yang have a simple but powerful goal. They want to liberate the faith community through the word of God. “I believe that the word of God makes us free,” said Paul.

The Yangs use I Corinthians 12 as a confirmation for planting – “God gave different gifts…" The church they want to plant, called Jubilee Sheppard Christian Church, is a work in progress. They are hoping to launch in March of 2010. Both Paul and Jin are professors at the Association of Canada Theological School, which is a part of Trinity Western University in British Columbia, Canada. Paul, who has a background in physics, is a professor of Christian Worldview, were he integrates both Science and Christianity. Jin is a professor in the family ministry. They are hoping to rent classroom space at the university for the church service.

Paul wants to incorporate his background in science and Christianity to declare freedom to those who want to worship. “This is why we call our church Jubilee Sheppard. As a professor my core message is spiritual liberation and integration of faith in our workplace and in our family life. So we want to do that through the church and through practical internship,” he said.

According to the Yangs there is a large Korean population in British Columbia. "We are focusing on Korean students, who are first generation Koreans attending school in Canada. So we teach them and we also share many things in common, culturally, spiritually and even share the same mentality. This is a great opportunity to share the church life."

The mission statement for Jubilee is “We want to create a liberating faith community with a Christian worldview by proclaiming the word of God."

Paul expressed his strong desire to preach the word of God, restore the value of the family and discover a way to liberate the people from the bondage of dichotomy of a worldview. According to Paul many people have a worldview where Christianity is separate from our workplace. Sunday is for Christianity and the six other days are for themselves. "I believe the whole life or seven days should be some kind of worship. We need to include stewardship in the workplace and family life." When the Yangs launch Jubilee it will be the first Disciples of Christ church in Vancouver, Canada.
